Ronald McDonald House Charities Ride for Sick Kids WA 2019 One-day Ride
The Ronald McDonald House Charities Ride for Sick Kids WA is an annual 4 day charity cycling event. The purpose of the Ride, which has been running since 2012, is to raise funds for regional families who will call Ronald McDonald House Perth home every night of the year while their seriously ill child receives treatment at Perth Children’s Hospital.
In 2019 the team will ride from the 4th to the 7th of May through the Wheatbelt region north of Perth, and while the riders will be hurting physically on the ride, it is all for a great cause: to keep families together and provide a home away from home during the most challenging of times.
This past weekend, on Sunday March 10th, the team, including our Managing Director Joe, took off on a One-day Ride, departing from and finishing at Sir James Mitchell Park, South Perth. The Ride took just over 3 hours to travel the 72.6 kilometres, and served as great preparation for the major event coming up in May.
Over the past 7 years the Ride for Sick Kids WA has raised more than $1,500,000, and aims higher every year as more and more families require help.

Ronald McDonald House is an initiative which is close to our hearts at Lightspeed, as one of our purposes, which motivate and drive us, is to participate in the community through initiatives such as sponsorship of important community events and initiatives. As well as participating in events, Lightspeed sponsors a room at Ronald McDonald House Perth, which means that a family can stay close to their precious child at a most delicate time in their lives, when the child needs the support if his or her family, and the family needs the support of the community.
