Vocus Communications engage Lightspeed Communications & Electrical everyday to perform installations of fibre backbone cable on their behalf. These installations range from 50M runs in single story buildings to over 250M runs in 40 floor high-rise buildings and everything in between.
Lightspeed receive the job details and proceed to contact the end client to arrange a suitable time and date for the installation to take place and contact the building management to arrange access to all required areas, ensure all inductions are completed and paperwork compliant and up-to-date.
Our technicians then attend site, sign in with the building, greet the client and commence the installation. The installation of fibre backbone cable consists of running fibre optic cable from the building MDF (mains distribution frame) to the end clients’ communications rack, usually in their tenancy or dedicated server room. The cable is bought into the rack and terminated inside the FOBOT, and the FOBOT and NTU installed in the clients’ communications rack to bring live services as an end result.
The fibre optic cable is tested onsite and the results sent to Lightspeeds’ office directly from site. To complete the professional handover to Vocus, Lightspeed then provide them with an email including completed and signed paperwork, photos of all aspects of the installation and test results to confirm connectivity and output.
As always Lightspeed caters to their clients and end client’s requests, scheduling works whenever is best for the building and client, including during and after-hours jobs, night and weekend works.
As a result of these ongoing works, Lightspeed have formed great working relationships with a lot of building and facility managers in and around Perth CBD and have accrued a great working knowledge of the high-rise buildings located there.
