Central Park Tower in the Perth CBD is an iconic part of the city skyline, since its completion in the early 1990’s it has remained one of the city’s most recognisable towers and is still the tallest office building in Western Australia.
During 2019 works to update the building kicked off to keep up with the new range of premium office spaces in Perth. These upgrades started off with a refreshed lobby and entry, new end of trip facilities, and on to a complete façade upgrade. Whilst works on the client and visitor facing parts of the building progressed, plans to modernise the back of house systems were also taking shape.

As part of works to modernise the IT backend systems and enable updated monitoring, automation and control of the building systems, Lightspeed Communications and Electrical worked with our ICT partners, building management, and specialty consultants to plan and then implement a new building services network.

New communications cabinets, fibre optic connections and network switches were installed to every level of the building, from the rooftop tower plant room to the lower basement levels, each connecting back to a central server room over a singlemode fibre optic connection.

To speed the installation of cables throughout the building and minimise disruption to each level, fibre optic backbones were run to central floors and individual floors connected to these within fibre optic joints. This design minimised the length and number of cables that needed to go between floors and back to the main server room.

Our project management team thoroughly planned and then worked with the building management and operational teams to complete all required works whilst minimising the disruption to tenants, this included afterhours and weekend works.

As with all our projects, Lightspeed strive to complete all our jobs to the highest standards, on time, and on budget. This project was no exception thanks to our onsite team working tirelessly to ensure our high standards were maintained.
