Shafto Lane links Hay and Murray Streets. It was originally called Barratt Lane, named after Enoch Pearson Barratt, a convict who established Western Australia’s first nursery.
With Shafto Lane being a major thoroughfare within the CBD linking Murray and Hay Street, The City of Perth requested Lightspeed to come up with solution to extend the current fibre network to the existing City of Perth poles for the installation of additional WiFi and CCTV cameras.
Works involved the installation of underground conduits and the installation of communications pits. Once these were installed additional fibre optic cables were installed and the existing corporate and CCTV fibre Optic networks were extended to the end destination locations for additional WAP and CCTV coverage.
The above works involved the additional fibre installation from the current COP fibre networks, the decision was made to increase the additional backbone fibre core count to cater for the future CCTV and WiFi capacity for the upcoming Kings and Yagan Square developments.
The above works were completed without intrusion to the public and within the required time frame.
