QV1 Tower is a modern 40-storey high-rise in Perth CBD located at 250 St Georges Terrace, managed by CBRE. QV1 Tower is home to a vast array of businesses and its features include (but not limited to) 24/7 security, 360-degree views, gymnasium, end of trip facilities, onsite storage and mailroom, along with two dedicated telecommunications rooms as well as multiple telecommunication carrier cabinets and points of presence.

Lightspeed Communications & Electrical were contacted to complete an audit of the existing cabling initially in the basement areas of QV1 with strong focus on redundant cabling between the communications rooms, the MDF and the main riser system. Lightspeed attended site with specialized equipment and identified all non-compliant and/or redundant cabling, any cabling not terminated, with excess service coils or slack on cable trays, cables run incorrectly and any other irregularities or cabling that does not meet Australian Standards. Lightspeed reported this information via QV1 Non-Compliance Report, with comment and recommendations to the vendors for repair or removal of these cables.

Vendors were given the opportunity to rectify the issues themselves or engage Lightspeed to do so. Many vendors, based off the professional works already completed by Lightspeed, chose to engage Lightspeed to carry out the works.

Lightspeed arranged to re-attend site and complete the removal of redundant cabling and clean-up of the remaining cabling, along with bringing the remaining cabling up to Australian Standards documenting all changes. Lightspeed kept in touch with building management to keep them informed and up to date with the project progress and presented them with a full report upon project completion.

Whilst initially the project was just to audit the existing cabling in the basement area of QV1, Lightspeed were quickly engaged to audit and rectify other areas within QV1 and worked closely with building management to achieve the overall goals of the project, with great success.
