Specific OH & S Requirements:
Lightspeed Communications & Electrical was proud to partner with Dataline Visual Link (DVL) to deliver a fibre optic cable network to the McLarty Explosives Reserve Facility as part of their complete security system design and construct package upgrade.
The WA State Government relocated the existing State Explosives Facility in Baldivis to the McLarty Explosives Reserve Facility. The facility is responsible for the storage and manufacture of packaged explosives, explosives used in the mining sector and ammonium nitrate.
Due to this relocation, the new site required a new fibre optic cable network to be installed, which Lightspeed provided to an incredibly high standard. This included the design, supply, construction and installation along with termination and testing for the fibre optic cable network throughout the entire 130 hectare facility.
The single mode fibre optic (SMOF) network was established as a transmission medium to support the security systems communications infrastructure. All cables and cores were terminated and brought into a FOBOT, and installed with enough excess length to allow for any future works.
Lightspeed technicians’ worked in teams of two to complete this project efficiently and ahead of schedule, even due to the remote location of the works.
