Jacob’s Ladder is a popular set of stairs for fitness fanatics located at the end of Cliff St, descending to Mount street in West Perth. Just short of 300 steps it covers a steep descent of 43m and is incredibly popular at all times of the day.
Due to excessive foot traffic, The City of Perth required CCTV cameras to monitor the area. To do this the City of Perth contacted Lightspeed to discuss providing a solution.
The Jacob’s Ladder area is not close to the City’s current private fibre network that enables connectivity to the CCTV hubs. Lightspeed installed a pole at the top of Jacobs ladder for the installation of a Wireless Air-bridge to send and receive data traffic from the rooftop of Council House.
Lightspeed then installed 200m of underground communications Pit and Pipe up Cliff Street and down Mount street which linked up to two additional CCTV camera poles that we installed with custom footings.
Fibre optic connectivity was implemented from each pole back to a local PLC cabinet that housed switching equipment for the cameras. All CCTV signals were then relayed back to Council House via the wireless air-bridge.
