Lightspeed was involved in the supply and Installation of the Fibre Backbone for the backhaul for the data transfer to WiFi access Points around the Perth CBD
Perth WiFi covers the Perth CBD and key public areas including St Georges Terrace, the Murray and Hay Street Malls, Forrest Place and adjoining streets. The tourism precinct of Barrack Square and the iconic Stirling Gardens are also included in the blanket coverage are, all running on a fibre optic backbone
Lightspeed Communications & Electrical worked closely with City of Perth to install the new fibre backbone which supports wireless points to run the new WiFi system in and around the Perth CBD. Works involved the audit and documentation of more than 32,000m of pit and pipe, as well as the installation of more than 9,500m of fibre optic Cable with multiple joints and terminations.
This is part of an ongoing maintenance contract that will increase extra WiFi access points and fibre upgrades as well as redundant fibre rings for other services to the city of Perth.
